ABOUT THE PROJECT
Working Title: Middle Twilight
Premiere: May 2027
Location: Schuylkill River Trail (Philadelphia)
Middle Twilight is a new, site-specific performance staged along a 2.5-mile stretch of the Schuylkill River Path—from Schuylkill River Park, across the soon-to-open swing bridge, and ending at Bartram’s Garden.
The piece follows a nomad and their pet cat traveling through a near-future Philadelphia landscape on a Rube Goldberg–like bike caravan. The piece will be devised collaboratively by the ensemble over the next year. (“Devised” means the play is not pre-written—the cast creates the story, characters, and performance together.)
Led by:
Dara Silverman (Writer/Director)
Alexis Howland (Lead Ensemble Member)
COMPENSATION
This is a paid position.
Collaborators will receive:
-
$35/hour for rehearsals & development (approx. 75–100 hours)
-
$35/hour for performances (approx. 52 hours)
Estimated total compensation: $4,445–$5,600, depending on involvement.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for 1–2 additional imaginative, collaborative people who want to create as much as perform. We are especially interested in:
-
Physical theater & movement artists

-
Cyclists (or bike-curious performers)
Queer and BIPOC artists are warmly encouraged to apply.

-
Interest in (or willingness to learn) hauling heavy objects by bike
No riding is required at the audition, though performers will need to travel the performance route as part of the production process.
No bike? No problem. If bike access is a barrier, please still sign up—we’ll work it out for the right performer.

HOW TO APPLY
To apply for an audition, please fill out this form by June 5th: Agile Rascal Audition Application Form
We hope to meet as many interested people as possible. Depending on the number of submissions, we may not be able to invite everyone to audition.
Even for people who are not ultimately cast, there may be other opportunities to participate in or support the project as it develops. Part of this process is simply connecting with more bike/art/theater people in the community, and we’d love to meet you.
Invitations to audition will be sent by June 13th.
